Bastet is an interactive exploration of emotion and machinery, embodied in two cat statues with LCD heads and supple tails.

While one statue plays a continuous, random stream of YouTube videos featuring the word “cat,” the other acts as a digital mirror, capturing the viewer’s image through a camera in its chest. As the screens display human faces, a system analyzes their expressions in real-time, bringing the tails to life in response to the detected emotions. Through this intimate interaction, “Bastet” presents a new form of communication, bridging the gap between inner feelings and physical, mechanical movement.

Bastetは、頭部に液晶ディスプレイ、そしてしなやかに動くしっぽを持った2体の猫の像で構成されるインタラクティブ・アート作品です。
片方の像は「cat」という言葉が含まれるYouTube動画を無作為に再生し続けます。一方、もう片方の像は、胸に内蔵されたカメラで捉えた鑑賞者の姿をリアルタイムで映し出します。
液晶ディスプレイに表示された人物の表情がリアルタイムに分析され、その感情に呼応してしっぽが生き生きと動きます。
鑑賞者は作品と対峙することで、自らの感情と機械の身体的な動きが交わる、新しいコミュニケーションの形を探求することになります。
